Inherent Imbalance: GM’s Forgotten 5-Cylinder Engine | The

(4 day ago) General Motors dubbed it the Atlas engine, and it was a family of inline engines designed to be light weight, fuel efficient, and easy to package. The Atlas family of engines included a hulking 4.2-liter six, a workhorse 2.8-liter four, and, oddly enough, a 3.5-liter 5-cylinder.

Reliability of Chevy Colorado 5 Cylinder?? - Bob Is The

(2 day ago) Loved the engine, just hated the truck wrapped around it. You may find the same thing with the Colorado/Canyon. I don't know that we ever exceeded 17-18mpg with the 4.2L. In regards to the poster that got 28/30mpg with his I5, all I have to say is WOW! That is highly unusual for any of the GM Vortec/Atlas series engines.

What say you about the GM 5 cylinder? - Bob Is The Oil Guy

(4 day ago) My Brother in law has a 2006 Colorado Crew Cab 2WD with the I5. I have driven it a couple times. Decent power. I liked it actually( ie; the truck and engine ). He gets 20-24 MPG on average. He has had no problems with the engine or the truck to speak of. He has replaced the tires and had to do regular maintenance and that is all.

Chevy's New 1.5L Engines Are Melting Themselves | Shifting

(5 day ago) Unfortunately, some customers are experiencing serious issues with these engines. The new 1.5L turbo engines are melting their pistons deeming them inoperable. The last thing you want from a new car is an engine that melts itself but some Chevy customers who drive the new Malibu and Cruze are experiencing just that.
