VK2ZOI

Welcome. I have described on this website a number of VHF/UHF antennae which have become known as the Flower Pot antennae. This material is a summary of six articles on the “Flower Pot Antenna” published in March and April 1993, March, April and November 2002 and, December 2006 in QUA – The Newsletter of the Hornsby and Districts Amateur Radio Club Inc (HADARC).

Alan Yates' Laboratory - VK2ZOI Flower-Pot Antenna

VK2ZOI Flower-Pot Antenna. It had been about 10 years since I used 2 metres actively. I figured it was time to get back into the band. I saw the VK2ZOI "Flower-Pot Antenna" mentioned on the ARNSW website, so I wrote to John Bishop and asked for his documentation on the antenna. John replied quickly with three detailed articles about his antenna

Welcome to the G6OHM Website - Antenna Designs

VK2ZOI gave a talk I gave at a Hornsby and Districts Amateur Radio Club (HADARC) meeting in early 1993, He (lightheartedly) showed that by placing plastic flowers over this antenna, you can effectively disguise it.

VK2ZOI’s Flower Pot Antennas – brainwagon

VK2ZOI’s Flower Pot Antennas I made a brief mention of this website a few weeks ago on Twitter, but thought I should also archive a link to it here. If you are looking for some nice VHF and/or UHF antennas, these seem pretty neat, with clear directions.

6 metre 52 MHz SOTA Antenna | Get out of the Radio Shack

John’s design is perfect (IMHO) for use as a 6m SOTA antenna supported by a single squid pole or hung from a tree branch. I plan to coil ‘roll up’ the coax antenna for carriage in my backpack. I have no intention of enclosing the antenna in a plastic tube as one may do for a permanent installation. vk2zoi.com; vk1sotaon23cm.wordpress

SOTA – 6m 52 MHz Coaxial Dipole Antenna | Get out of the

An interesting point is to compare the lengths specified by John against the formula for a 1/4 wave element at 52 MHz = 1370 mm long (300/52 x 0.95 x 0.25 = 1.37metres). You will note the bottom half (braid section) of the coaxial dipole antenna is considerably shorter than a 1/4 wave length most likely due the velocity factor of the cable.

Homebrew 6m antenna and the new Sotabeams tactical mini mast

This is NOT a how to video :-) I'm just videoing my attempt of building a wire antenna to take out to the hills soon with my new Sotabeams tactical mini. I needed to try a new antenna for my
